UAP Northwest Report
on Sugar Beets & Sod
Below you will find information from one of my customers who has recently applied EnviroMax (SoilMaster Rx) and have reported the results to me by the field man working out of our UAP office in Calwell, Idaho.
We applied EnviroMax on two crops in the Nampa/Caldwell area. The first was a field of sugar beets which had always had run-off problems. The Center pivot coved 50Ac. Of which about half have a slope and hill problem. The other half is fairly level, but is all heavy silt, caused by run-off from the slope and its natural fine texture. This type of soil has a history of poor infiltration, crusting and causes poor use of all nutrients necessary for yield and sugar.
On the sugar beets, EnviroMax was applied at 1/2 gallon per acre through the center pivot on the first irrigation, when the beets were first irrigated in the latter part of April. A second half gallon was applied 14 days later. The benefits observed are:
We have not harvested yet, but I anticipate above average yields on this field, according to all of the appearances to date.
EnviroMax was applied to grass grown for sod. The first application was to mature sod that was harvested 1 1/2 months after the EnviroMax application. The first application was 1/2 gallon per acre and was applied with a foliar fertilizer (Idahos best 8-30-5). A second application was made 14 days later, and it was 1/2 gallon per acre with the same foliar fertilizer. The EnviroMax and foliar were applied by ground rig at 20 gallons per acre and was followed by a 12 hour irrigation the same day. We saw a tremendous response from both applications. The grass was a darker green. The grass quickly became very thick (within one weeks time). At harvest, the owner at River Oak turf commented that the sod treated with EnviroMax looked better than his other sod. The sod held together better than the other sod, because of the improved root structure throughout the turf. The field that had been treated with EnviroMax was harvested one full month sooner than anticipated, yet the sod was definitely "better" than more mature sod. The sod farm itself is located on sandy river bottom soil. The grass treated with EnviroMax showed less stress between irrigations. The owner is extremely happy with the results from EnviroMax. He will be using the EnviroMax on all of his sod acres this fall and again in the spring.
