Report from EES on Sugar Beets
1997 Sugar Beet Tests
In 1997, we tested EnviroMax on 160 test plots of sugar beets in the state of Idaho. With sugar beets, the sugar content is important.
We tested the product on sandy loam and multiple types of clay soil. There was a test plot and control plot for each test. We used one gallon per acre rate of EnviroMax. It was put down just after planting. Each plot was 7 1/2 feet by 20 feet. Test results have been calculated to acre results for ease of understanding.
All of the beet tests are in, however we have not yet sifted through all of the data, which is extensive. For the purpose of letting folks know preliminary information, we have studied three typical plots. The results are:
| Plot #1 | Yield |
Sugar Content |
Results 1.63 ton per acre increase |
| Control field | 48,460 lb/acre | 13.22% | |
| Test field | 51,727.5 lb/acre | 14.18% |
| Plot #2 | Yield |
Sugar Content |
Results 4.46 ton per acre increase |
| Control field | 53,578 lb/acre | 13.81% |
|
| Test field | 62,508 lb/acre | 14.13% |
| Plot #3 | Yield |
Sugar Content |
Results 7.87 ton per acre increase |
| Control field | 62,231 lb/acre | 14.03% | |
| Test field | 77,972 lb/acre | 14.06% |
This preliminary information indicates that using EnviroMax on sugar beets is cost effective and productive. We recommend that the product be put down just after planting, and before the first irrigation. Use one gallon per acre over a 9 hour period if in drip, or spray.
If you have any indication of algae, an algaecide must be applied with EnviroMax. EnviroMax will not penetrate algae, unless EnviroMax is banded with nutrients.
