All plants, crops, trees & grass require certain conditions for health & growth. In order to accommodate our garden plants and lawns, we need to have proper soil tilth to aid in drainage, water & nutrient uptake and the dispersion of salts. This is essential for healthy plants & grass. Additionally, our grass & garden needs to be fed nutrients in a form that is readily absorbable & properly balanced. We must be careful not to burn the lawn or plants with nutrient products that are too high in values. Understanding the "Law of the Minimums" is important in understanding what we need for all growth. The Law states that if one of the nutritive elements is deficient or lacking, plant growth will be poor even when all other elements are abundant. If the deficient element is supplied, growth will be increased up to the point where the supply of that element is no longer the limiting factor. A good analogy to this principal is our own bodies. We all know that taking vitamins will do little unless we also take minerals, trace minerals, amino acids & enzymes, in appropriate proportions. The same is true for all plants. We need to have all of the appropriate elements required for growth available on an as needed basis for plant health & growth. Another element we need to keep in mind is the biological state of the soil. Our soils contain thousands of microorganisms. These are required for grass & plants to boost their ability to resist disease, fungus & mold. Without these microorganisms the nutrients we feed the plants are not in a form that is readily usable by the plant. The microorganisms digest the nutrients, excrete them as organic acids, enzymes, polysaccharides, gases & additional biomass. Then they are mixed with enzymes & fulvic acid in the ground. This process produces the best food for the plant. For roses, we need to insure that these microorganisms are always present. Below please find the suggested program for lawn and garden care and a short statement about the products that Dick Hornack has created for those of us interested in gardening follows. Dick created many of these products for the farmers. After testing his natural formulations for at least two years for each product in the agricultural market, he introduced them to the home lawn & garden market. We know certainly that when farmers follow a program that includes the products listed here, the yields are way up on every crop tested. Healthier plants result. Commercial farmers who have stripped their fields of micronutrients through the use of chemicals & because the commercial fertilizers are composed primarily of NPK plus a few select trace minerals, are seeing amazing results on those fields with our programs. We will describe the major benefits of each product. Then we will suggest a program that will be beneficial for your lawn & garden. In a few cases, the first year on this program, you may need to increase the number of applications of EnviroMax, if your soil is extremely compacted and contains high calcium levels. We hope that you have another successful year of gardening in 1999. EnviroMax - Change the Texture of Your Soil, Break Up Hardpan Layers and Clay, Increase Drainage, Move Nutrients (including Phosphates) into the Root Zone, Reduce Nutrient Leaching, Improve Root Growth, Makes Better Use of Nutrients & Water, pH 5.5 EnviroMax is important for both hardpan-layered soil, such as clay, and sandy soil. Water & nutrient uptake is a problem for both soil types. In clay soil, there is not enough pore space in the soil structure to hold much needed air, water or nutrients. In sandy soil, there is so much leaching occurring, that water & nutrients are used at very low rates when applied. EnviroMax has a water-loving & water-hating action, which moves through the soil and opens up the pore space in clay. The molecule is also anionically charged, thus it can hold nutrients and water so that even in sandy soils better use is made of any nutrient or water applied. PlantMaster Keep Soil Conditioned and Supply ALL Natural Nutrients Each Time You Apply - Contains 50% EnviroMax and Over 100 Vitamins, Minerals, Trace Minerals & Micronutrients, Enzymes, Amino Acids & Natural Growth Regulators, Replaces Vital Elements for Healthy Growth of Plants, Grasses, Trees, Flowers & Vegetables, pH 6.0 PlantMaster is a very unique nutrient & soil amendment product. Using a liquid is important because we know that the nutrients we apply go where we want them. The EnviroMax component in PlantMaster assures us that the nutrients in the formula will reach the root zone, where grass roots & plants feed. Additionally, components in PlantMaster provide the comprehensive micronutrient package required to supply every nutrient required. Many other products claim to be complete. But PlantMaster supplies all of the elements in one. Natural growth regulators insure plants have good flowering. This also insures that when seeding the lawn, germination time is greatly reduced. The amino acids & enzymes aid in the process of converting the mineral & trace minerals into usable food for the plant. Without these elements, our plants cannot use all of the minerals we apply. Using PlantMaster & Bradfield Eagle Plus as your regular fertilizer supplies your lawn & garden with the elements found in the organic matter & supplements recommended by the experts in the field.EnviroLife - Get Back To Natures Way of Balancing the Soil & the Environment with this New Microbiological Formula. Microorganisms Aid in Utilization of Nutrients & Reducing Harmful Effects of Chemicals, pH 5.0 As mentioned above, microorganisms ("good" bacteria) are required in the soil. There are so many strains of microorganisms available. Certain strains are essential for conversion of nutrients, while other strains are required to boost the plants ability to resist disease, fungus & mold. Dick has selected strains of micro-organisms that he believes are most effective in lawn & garden care. The product contains both aerobic & anaerobic microorganisms. The aerobic bacteria fix nitrogen & oxygen from the air & use it as food. The anaerobic bacteria go beneath the surface. Mixing it with EnviroMax or PlantMaster insures that the formula goes to the root zone, where your plants & grasses feed. These microorganisms go to work, converting organic matter & nutrients into usable food. The formula also contains enzymes & fulvic acid, which are required to make the best food for the plant.
Use of the Hose End Sprayer: Attach the garden hose to the hose end sprayer. Turn on the water full strength. There is a switch on the hose end sprayer. There is more than one position to turn it to. Turn the switch to the "on" position in order to begin spraying the product. For every 1,000 square feet of area to be covered, it will take you 3 to 3 1/2 minutes to spray. The dilution rate provided by the sprayer is 60 to 1.
Suggested Lawn Program for States with Clay, Clay Loam, Sandy Clay Loam or other Hardpan Types of Soil: At the beginning of the season, treat your lawn to the natural combination of Bradfield Eagle Plus, EnviroMax and EnviroLife. Use 10 pounds of Bradfield Eagle Plus for each 1,000 square feet. Then, for every 5,000 square feet, mix 8 ounces of EnviroLife with one pint of EnviroMax. Spray this over the Bradfield Eagle Plus and then water it in well. Wait two months. Then apply one pint of PlantMaster for every 5,000 square feet. Then, every two months, use 5 pounds of Bradfield Eagle Plus for each 1,000 square feet of grass. On alternate months, on an as needed basis you may wish to use 8 ounces of EnviroMax for each 5,000 square feet, in areas with heavy compaction or when water conservation is of concern. If you use any herbicide, fungicide or insecticide, apply a mixture of 8 ounces of EnviroMax with 8 ounces of EnviroLife for every 5,000 square feet. Do this 7 days after any chemical application.

Then, every two months, use 5 pounds of Bradfield Eagle Plus for each 1,000 square feet of grass. Spray 8 ounces of EnviroMax for every 5,000 square feet immediately to insure full utilization of the nutrient application. If you use any herbicide, fungicide or insecticide, apply a mixture of 8 ounces of EnviroMax with 8 ounces of EnviroLife for every 5,000 square feet. Do this 7 days after any chemical application.
Seed Germination in Your Lawn - In the fall when you seed, be sure you have a healthy environment. First apply EnviroMax. In 7 to 10 days, verticut your lawn and seed. Using the hose end applicator provided with PlantMaster, apply the product for 3 minutes for every 1,000 square feet, or one pint for every 5,000 square feet. Apply the product right after you seed.Laying New Sod - Prior to laying new sod, it is very important to ascertain what kind of soil you have. Many of us have clay or compacted soils. In this case, we suggest you apply EnviroMax. After 10 days, lay the sod. Immediately apply PlantMaster mixed with EnviroLife (4/1 ratio) at a dosage rate of 3 minutes of watering for every 1,000 square feet. Water that in with 1/4 inch of water within 24 hours.
General Application Information for Gardens: When planting fruits, vegetables, flowers, or shrubs, you may apply 6 to 8 ounces of EnviroMax for every 1,000 square feet prior to tilling. This is particularly recommended if you have any type of hardpan or clay layers in your soil. By making this application at least one to two weeks prior to tilling, your job will be easier at planting time, as it will allow the softening of the soil. In sandy soils, this application will not be necessary.
Vegetables - When planting, apply PlantMaster & EnviroLife (4/1 ratio) generously to the soil through the hose end sprayer. When the plant reaches approximately 2/3 of its growth, reapply. Thirty days later, apply Bradfield Eagle Plus at a rate of 2 pounds per 400 square feet. Flowering Plants - When planting (either from seed or transplanting), apply PlantMaster & EnviroLife (4/1 ratio) generously. Reapply when the first blooms appear. Apply Bradfield Eagle Plus every 30 to 45 days thereafter at a rate of 1 pound for every 300 square feet.
